A colorful mushroom was growing out of the mat of pine needles. My fellow hikers seemed to have a built-in radar for sensing this form of plant life. Once found, there would sometimes be great discussion about the value of the prize. To me, one wild mushroom is like any other—probably deadly if eaten or just looked at too closely. |
