As I walked along with my camera at my side, this woman stopped me with a few words I couldn't understand. When she realized I was a foreigner she started to gesture. She pointed her two fingers at her eyes. I sheepishly shrugged—embarrassed for being such a dunce. Then she motioned for me to come back with her into her courtyard. She went inside the house as I stood there and watched her beautiful daughter hang laundry. To the daughter, I didn't even exist. The lady came out, shrugged, and then walked me back to the street. I think she wanted to show or sell me something but couldn't find it. What she did give me was this story! |
