I am well trained to look up when I get to the entrance of these churches—biserici in Romanian—and I very much appreciate it when there is a sign that tells its history. This one stated:
Monument Istoric 1728 "The Entrance into the Temple of the Holy Virgin" Church - with Saints Built and painted by metropolitan Danill, on the site of the former church founded by priest Fierea in the late 17th century. Remarkable exterior paintings, where one can still distinguish antique philosophers and sibyls (of which the best preserved is sibyl Persica, on the southern apse) |
