I had to be at the airport at 4:00am for a flight departure at 6:00. The sun was not present for my frenzy of activity: crawling out of bed at an ungodly hour, desperately trying to come out of my coma with a cup of instant coffee, checking out of the hotel, finding my way to the road out of the city (which even at 3am is a speedway), finding the off-site car rental place where no one was on duty, getting over to the airport, and going through the trauma of checking in. When you get to the airport at 4am you're pridefully sure that you'll be the first one there—until you encounter the large crowd that beat you to it. |
