At Piaţa Revoluţiei (Revolution Square) I paused at this spot in awe. It was from that little balcony over the doors—now quietly hiding from the early afternoon sun—that the dictator Ceauşescu gave his final speech. Standing in historic spots like this, I close my eyes and try to sense if there are still some vibrations reverberating from the events of the past. Alas, I can't quite grasp them. A couple of minutes into this video clip you can vividly hear what happens when the people have finally had enough.
